Dark circles affect men and women of all ages, reports the Mayo Clinic. The clinic warns that nothing ruins your complexion and makes you look and feel old like dark circles. Although drastic measures like laser surgery can help diminish the dark circles, several over-the-counter skincare products can also help brighten and disguise the under-eye region.

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Daily Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream

Skincare expert Paula Begoun tested Garnier's eye cream and says it's intended to treat dark circles and puffiness in the eye region. She says it's best for slightly dry skin, thanks to its emollients that moisturize and hydrate your cells. It also contains salicylic acid, which may help accelerate skin cell turnover rates. Additional beneficial ingredients include wrinkle-fighting antioxidants and mineral pigments that reflect light to cosmetically lighten dark circles.

Olay Professional Pro-X Eye Restoration Complex

The beauty editors of "Health" magazine ranked Olay's eye treatment as 2009's best eye product, thanks to its use of vitamin B to help reduce skin tone problems and dark circles. Additional beneficial ingredients include silicone, glycerin, antioxidants and peptides. Meanwhile, Begoun also loved it for its "cell-communicating" ingredients and notes that Olay adds caffeine to help reduce puffiness.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Concealer

Physicians Formula's mineral-based concealer kit includes three different concealers. The editors of "InStyle" magazine liked it so much they named it one of 2010's must-have beauty products. Each concealer works together to help improve your complexion, note editors. The magazine reports the yellow concealer does well hiding dark circles, the orange concealer camouflages imperfections and the pink concealer adds eye-brightening highlights.

Christian Dior Smoothing Anti-Fatigue Concealer

The Mayo Clinic warns that some dark circles are hereditary. Your only option may be to use a light-reflecting and light-diffusing concealer to help cosmetically enhance the under-eye area. "Health" magazine praised Dior's eye concealer as a way to instantly camouflage dark circles and brighten your face for a more wide-awake look.
