Orlando, Florida, notoriously known as theme park central, actually offers a variety of attractions for people with active lifestyles. With thousands of parks and lakes, wildlife adventures, a vibrant nightlife, thrilling theme parks, several educational centers and outdoor activities, Orlando offers plenty of nighttime experiences for health-minded individuals.

Eco-adventures

Check out the nocturnal side of Orlando’s wildlife as you zip through the night on Forever Florida’s Starlight or Moonlight Zipline Safari. You’ll get a peek at many animals that are not out and about during the daytime, and an unparalleled look at the Florida night sky as you fly along at speeds up to 25 miles per hour.

If a zip line is not your thing, float through the wetlands of central Florida on Sawgrass Recreation Park’s Red Eye Tour. The park’s airboats will take you deep into the Everglades to explore and discover the sights and sounds of the area's nocturnal predators.

Educational Activities

Hands-on exhibits and live activities at the Orlando Science Center will stimulate your mind. Visit the observatory on Saturday evenings for a view of the Orlando skyline and beyond. The center’s telescopes can zoom in on planets like Jupiter, Mars and Venus. The Orlando Science Center also features rock ‘n’ roll laser shows during the summer, where you can experience bright lasers accompanied by stereo sound and intense graphics while rocking out to classic jams. For night owls, the center offers overnight adventure programs that are perfect for families and Scout or school groups. Each program includes an exploration of the center, a themed workshop, such as astronomy or archaeology, dinner, breakfast and a place to sleep.

Theme Parks

Universal’s Islands of Adventure offers epic adventures as your favorite stories, cartoons and comic book heroes come to life. Open until 10 p.m. most nights, the park’s thrills, such as Marvel Super Hero Island, Jurassic Park, Dr. Seuss in Landing and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will give you a workout as you complete your journey.

Expand your horizons and be inspired at Epcot Center, open until 9 p.m. each night. Inside the Pavilions you can visit shops, attractions and restaurants that represent the culture and cuisine of 11 countries, some of which include Mexico, Norway, Germany, Italy, Morocco, France and China.

Mini-golf

Though most professional golf courses don’t have tee times later than 5 p.m., Orlando is sprinkled with putt-putt courses within and around Disney World. Best played at night during the hottest summer months, Orlando’s miniature golf courses are just as elaborate as the surrounding theme parks. A majority of courses are concentrated on International Drive, and two of the more popular courses include Congo River Adventure Golf, offering 36 holes atop waterfalls, rocky peaks and deep caves, and Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, which offers waterfalls, buccaneers and buried treasure.

Dance Clubs

Movers and shakers of any age can dance the night away in one of Orlando’s many nightclubs. A fun way to get your exercise, Orlando offers plenty of different dance venues, such as rock clubs, techno and hip-hop clubs and retro nights. Or, move your body to the hip-swaying rhythms of Latin beats.
