A Brazilian bikini wax removes all the hair in the pubic region except for a small patch near the vagina. Some people refer to the wax treatment as a wax of removing all hair. Though receiving a Brazilian wax treatment is typically done in a salon, there are over-the-counter waxing kits that can be used at home.

Do-it-Yourself Brazillian Wax

Step 1

Purchase a Brazilian waxing kit. Find the kit at your local drugstore in the shaving and hair removal section.

Step 2

Take an over-the-counter pain killer such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Removing the wax can be a lengthy and painful process.

Step 3

Clean the pubic and vaginal area with warm soap and water. Shower or use a wet washcloth. Dry all hair—the wax will not adhere well otherwise.

Step 4

Use scissors to trim hair to ¼ of an inch in length. Use a mirror to visually see all areas when cutting. Place one leg on the toilet while standing up for hard to reach areas.

Step 5

Heat wax according to instructions in microwave. Apply a small portion of wax approximately 2 inches in length to the skin area. Place a cloth strip over the wax and slightly press down, allowing the wax and strip to bond. When the wax has cooled, approximately 10 to 20 seconds on the skin, quickly remove the strip by grabbing one end, pulling in the direction of the hair growth. Pulling the strip off must be done extremely fast.

Step 6

Continue to wax the remaining areas. Use a compact mirror between the legs for a better view. Reheat wax to correct temperature as necessary. Use tweezers for any remaining hairs.

Tips and Warnings

  • If waxing becomes to painful, stop and take a break. Remember that the area will remain red and inflamed for the first 24 hours. A bikini wax generally lasts between six and eight weeks.
