Keloid scars are raised, reddish scars that develops at the site of an injury, often after surgery or a serious accident. While keloid scars are not dangerous, they can be uncomfortable and unsightly. While medical treatments like excision and injection may work, these treatments are expensive and invasive. However, there are some natural treatments that can help get rid of keloid scars. These treatments have not been approved by the FDA, however, so talk with your dermatologist or doctor before starting a new treatment.

Mustard Seed Oil, Rose Essential Oil and Jojoba Oil

According to Vasant Lad, author of "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies,” a mixture of mustard seed oil, rose essential oil and jojoba oil can be applied to the skin to help get rid of keloid scars and other scars on the body.

Combine 1 tbsp. mustard seed oil, 1 tsp. rose essential oil and 8 tbsp. jojoba oil in a small container and shake it vigorously to combine the ingredients. Gently apply a small amount of the mixture to the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing with cool water and washing with a mild cleanser. Apply your regular moisturizer if you use one. This treatment can be applied daily unless you notice irritation or redness. Unused portions of the mixture can be kept in a cool, dark place for one month.
