Exercise balls have gained popularity for abdominal training for home users, physical therapy clinics and commercial gyms. Various manufacturers make exercise balls, but creating a ball that can withstand everyday use and heavyweight loads has been a challenge. Fear of the exercise ball bursting during use has lead companies to produce a line of balls made to withstand high weight capacities and frequent usage.

SPRI

SPRI specializes in fitness equipment for all types of training systems. Its areas of expertise include foam rollers, stability balls and resistance bands. SPRI says its exercise balls are made from heavy-duty, slow-deflating rubber with a weight capacity of 500 lbs. The company's featured stability ball is called the Xercise Ball--Elite, sold in sizes of 45, 55, 65 and 75 centimeters.

Go Fit

Go Fit features a professional exercise ball that is able to withstand up to 2,500 pounds of pressure, the company says. It's touted as being made of a super high grade of rubber that is laboratory tested to ensure it resists rupture during high-volume training or home use. Go Fit professional grade balls are sold in three sizes: 55, 65 and 75 centimeters for height ranges 5 feet to 5-5, 5-6 to 6 feet and 6-1 and up.

J Fit

J Fit manufactures an anti-burst stability ball capable of withstanding 2,000 pounds of pressure. The company says the ball's main feature is slow deflation if punctured, so a client using the equipment won't be injured by falling weights or other training equipment. Anti-burst balls are necessary for any gym featuring this type of equipment. J Fit sells stability balls from 45 to 85 centimeters.

Elgin

One of the leading makers of physical therapy equipment makes an ABS vinyl anti-burst stability ball for commercial and residential use, according to the Tartan Group. Available sizes are 45, 55, 65, 75 and 85 centimeters. Tartan Group says Elgin exercise balls are designed for heavy usage with weight capacities of 600 pounds and are safe for use by patients who have had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. These exercise balls feature a slow deflate rate if punctured or torn, Tartan Group says.
