Shaving armpit hair is a tradition practiced by females in countries around the world. Some women shave their armpits for aesthetic reasons, some shave for hygiene, and some just want to feel more feminine. Shaving armpits is a straightforward process, but there are a few tips that will ensure a pain-free experience every time.

Step 1

Step into the shower, or bath tub. The water must be hot in order to open your pores and soften the hairs under your arms. Wait until near the end of the shower, or after you've been in the tub for 5 to 10 minutes to ensure the area is ready to be shaved.

Step 2

Raise one arm and apply some shaving cream or gel onto your armpit. Lather it up well before you begin.

Step 3

Hold the razor in your other hand and run in down your armpit from top to bottom. It is also possible to work the razor from bottom to top if it is more comfortable. Use medium pressure, and don't go over the same spot twice.

Step 4

Position your raised arm to create the most even surface possible. Rinse the razor off after each stroke, to avoid clogging it with stubble and cream. Once you have completed one side, repeat on the other.

Step 5

Blot your armpits dry with a towel when you are finished. Do not rub them dry, because you will only irritate your skin. If your skin burns or feels irritated, apply moisturizer to cool it down.

Tips and Warnings

  • Use a sharp razor each time you shave your armpits to avoid nicks and cuts. If you are shaving for the first time and your hair is long, consider trimming it with scissors before you begin shaving.

Things You'll Need
