San Francisco is a rich city full of fun things to do as well as beautiful places to see. There are multiple opportunities to take a tour of the city or participate in any of the several sports clubs the Bay Area has to offer. The month of November brings a number of events to the City by the Bay.

Fitness Clubs

San Francisco has fitness clubs geared toward physical wellness and relaxation. For example, the San Francisco Tennis Club has 12 indoor courts and 12 outdoor courts for its members. It also has a gym and group exercise classes. The Dolphin Club also offers memberships to the public. According to its website, "Our members swim in the waters of Aquatic Park, row in the Bay and on Lake Merced, play in handball tournaments, work out in our bay-view weight room, and participate in the annual Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon."

Spas

The Bay Area is home to several health spas, most of which offer a variety of massage options as well as other treatments, and many of which also offer yoga or other classes. For more information on the different spas and their locations, see Resources.

Running

Visitors and residents can go running around Lake Merced on a 4.5-mile paved pathway around the lake. For the more-seasoned fitness buffs, San Francisco is the site of the US Half Marathon, held in November. This race route goes across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Hiking Yoga

San Francisco is also home to hiking yoga, which gives you a chance to connect with the city while also practicing wellness. According to its website, "Hiking Yoga inspires busy professionals to get out of their over-scheduled lives and into the joy of the present moment through hikes combined with yoga in the most beautiful venues in San Francisco. We combine cardio, strength and flexibility activities into a fitness experience that is refreshing, restoring and fun as we explore San Francisco's gardens, parks and architecture."

Walking Tours

There are several walking tours during the month of November, including the Cruisin' the Castro Tour, the Whole Shebang and California Academy of Sciences Evening Tour. These tours let you get some exercise while learning about San Francisco's history and seeing its sights.
