Whether you purchase a trampoline for exercise or just for fun, you will want to keep it clean. While many families choose to go with the “no shoes” on the trampoline rule to keep the mat clean, you can't control wildlife and Mother Nature. Blowing leaves and twigs, dirt and other types of outdoor debris often can end up on the surface of the trampoline mat, requiring removal. Keeping your trampoline clean and free of debris will help to ensure years of enjoyment.

Step 1

Remove loose dirt and debris from the trampoline mat with a soft broom. If you do not have a broom handy, use a leaf blower. A few sweeps of the blower will remove all traces of debris in a matter of minutes.

Step 2

Rinse the surface of the trampoline mat with your garden hose. A garden hose with a trigger or spray nozzle works best.

Step 3

Scrub the trampoline mat clean with a cellulose sponge and the clear water from the garden hose. If the frame is dirty, take this opportunity to clean that, as well.

Step 4

Rinse the dirty water away after cleaning using the spray of the garden hose. Allow trampoline to air dry.

Step 5

Repeat the cleaning process each time the mat becomes excessively dirty.

Tips and Warnings

  • If your trampoline has an enclosure, remove the enclosure before cleaning. Detach the trampoline mat, fold it neatly and store it away in a safe place during the winter. Winter storage will keep the trampoline pad safe from the elements. A trampoline weather cover can keep your trampoline mat clean when the equipment not in use.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, soaps or abrasive cleaners to wash a trampoline. Do not allow anyone to jump on the trampoline while it is wet.
