You can lose weight without spending any money. In fact, you can save money while losing weight by eliminating certain things from your grocery shopping list. Fast food and convenience foods cost a lot of money, and they are often high in fat and calories. Buy natural ingredients and keep your daily menu simple, and you can lose weight without spending any extra money. Also, there are plenty of ways to get exercise without spending money; this can also help you lose weight.

Diet and Exercise

Step 1

Clean up your diet. Eliminate junk food and begin to change your eating habits. Enjoy some fruit or vegetables as a snack in between meals. Look for sale prices on meat, fruits, and vegetables during the week and buy what's on sale. This way you will have a healthy nutritious meal for a fraction of the cost of processed foods. Try to limit how often you dine out. When dining out, choose a broth-based soup and salad for a economic yet healthy choice.

Step 2

Cardiovascular exercise can help you lose weight. Instead of spending money on classes or a gym, simply put on your sneakers and head outdoors for a walk or a jog. Aim for 30 minutes a day or every day if possible. If the weather is poor, head over to your local library. You can rent some fitness videos for free. This will give you an opportunity to try something new. Kickboxing, aerobics, and dancing are all workouts that provide great cardio benefits.

Step 3

Strength training will help you develop strong muscles. Muscles help your body appear more defined, and they also help your body burn more calories at rest. This will help you lose weight faster. If you have a set of dumbbells at home, use them to work your upper body by doing exercises like chest flys and bicep curls. You can also hold them in your hands while you work your lower body, doing squats and lunges. If you don't have any dumbbells, do exercises that use only your body weight. Some examples include squats, lunges, push-ups, sit-ups and the plank.

Step 4

Keep a food and exercise journal. Write down everything that you eat, and record every exercise session. This will help make you accountable for your actions, and hopefully keep you on track.
