Belly fat can be unattractive and embarrassing. Unfortunately, it also can be one of the hardest places to get rid of fat. It is important to get rid of your belly fat because it's linked to serious health problems, including cancer, heart disease and diabetes. There are hundreds of products and diet programs out there that promise they can eliminate your belly fat fast, but you can quickly get rid of belly fat on your own. The key is to eat healthy, regularly exercise, rest up and avoid bad habits.
Step 1
Cut alcoholic beverages from your diet. Beer, wine and hard alcohol damages your liver and slows down your metabolism. There is nothing nutritional or beneficial about alcohol. When you drink it, you are just filling your body full of worthless calories that make it harder to quickly eliminate belly fat.
Step 2
Eat breakfast daily. It is very important for you to eat this meal and jump start your metabolism. According to Meals Matter, people who eat breakfast make healthier choices than those who don't. Start with a protein filled meal such as peanut butter, yogurt and eggs.
Step 3
Move your body. The Mayo Clinic says you should get at least 2 1/2 hours of moderate exercise a week. However, the more you exercise, the more quickly you can burn your belly fat. Incorporate exercise into your routine by parking farther away from the office, taking the stairs and power walking during your lunch hour.
Step 4
Make sure you sleep enough at night. If you're sleep deprived, you may struggle to muster enough energy to exercise. The National Sleep Foundation says you should get seven to eight hours of sleep per night. If you can't get that much, try to lay down during the day and take a 15-minute nap.
Step 5
Make sure you drink enough water. According to a study by Dr. Brenda Davy, associate professor of human nutrition at Virginia Tech, people who drank two glasses of water 20 to 30 minutes before they ate a meal lost weight at a faster pace than those who didn't drink water before a meal. The Mayo Clinic says you need at least eight 8-ounce glasses of daily.
