Hair that is weak, dry and lacking the proper nutrients often appears dull and lifeless and grows more slowly than nourished, healthy hair. Just like your body, your hair needs to be taken care of in order to look and perform its best. As a result, how you groom your hair, the foods you eat and various other factors will all make a difference in how your hair looks and feels and how fast it grows. To help your hair grow quicker, follow the guidelines below.
Step 1
Give your hair a break from washing and styling--both can dry out the hair and weaken the hair shaft. Try to skip days between washing, and only heat-style the hair when necessary.
Step 2
Massage your scalp for 10 minutes one to three times a week to increase circulation at the hair follicle.
Step 3
Apply a few drops of essential oils of rosemary and tea tree to the scalp and massage to help clear clogged hair follicles that might be preventing new hair growth.
Step 4
Eat a nutritious diet rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, beta carotenes, iron and vitamins A and C--all help the hair grow strong and healthy from the inside out.
Step 5
Avoid stress and some medications, which can cause your hair to grow slower. If you are currently taking any medications, ask your physician if the prescription might inhibit hair growth.
Step 6
Refrain from smoking or drinking too much caffeine, which can stunt your hair's growth.
