Thin, frizzy hair is a common cosmetic problem for many people. Although the number of hair follicles on your scalp is genetically predetermined and cannot be increased, you can protect your hair from breakage and damage. Making simple changes to your beauty routine can dramatically improve the thickness and sheen of your hair.
Step 1
Put down your hair dryer, flat iron, gels, mousse and other styling products. Excessive styling can cause traction alopecia or thinning of the hair related to cosmetic procedures.
Step 2
Limit the number of times you shower and shampoo your hair. Hot water and soap strip the hair of its natural oils which keep it smooth and shiny.
Step 3
Get your hair cut every six to eight weeks. Split ends give the hair a frizzy, unkempt appearance.
Step 4
After showering, let your hair air dry before brushing. Pulling a brush through wet hair will cause the hair shafts to stretch and break.
Step 5
Condition your hair every time you shower to replace natural oils and give your hair some shine.
