Iron an essential nutrient for humans. The Office of Dietary Supplements in the National Institutes of Health states that the majority of iron in the body is in hemoglobin proteins found in red blood cells. Hemoglobin carries oxygen to cells, and iron deficiency anemia causes fatigue and shortness of breath. National surveys suggest that many females are deficient in iron stores, and so iron supplements may improve their iron status. With common concern over pesticides, some customers see organic iron supplements as an attractive option.

Medicinal Neutraceutics

Medicinal Neutraceutics produces an organic iron dietary supplement in the form of vegetarian capsules. The company emphasizes that these capsules are vegan and hypoallergenic, without traces of any of the top food or additive allergen sources. They may be useful for menstruating or pregnant or post-partum women, endurance runners, and vegetarians who do not get their iron from red meat. The source of iron is from certified organic curry leaves, and each capsule provides 18 mg, or 100 percent of the daily value, of elemental iron. Other ingredients in this supplement are microcrystalline cellulose, L-leucine, and gelatin.

Nutralife

Nutralife's Organic Iron Plus Vitamin C tablets can increase iron levels, and may be helpful for healthy energy levels. Aside from organic iron, these tablets have vitamin C to increase absorption. The iron in Nutralife tables is from ferrous gluconate, with each tablet providing 20 mg of elemental iron from ferrous gluconate. The Office of Dietary Supplements in the National Institutes of Health classifies it as one of the more absorbable forms; ferrous gluconate is an organic source of iron because of its chemical structure with carbon bonds.

FabHealth

FabHealth Fab Iron tablets are organic iron supplements that also contain B-complex and other vitamins; they're suitable for athletes, busy people, female teenagers, vegetarians, and people who have iron deficiencies. Each tablet contains 50 mg of chelated iron, or the equivalent of 5 mg of elemental iron. Heme iron, in which the element binds with amino acids— which are the building blocks of proteins—is easier to absorb than non-heme iron. FabHealth's organic iron tablets do not have artificial flavors, coloring, preservatives, gluten or yeasts.
