Streetball is a popular version of basketball played daily in streets and playgrounds throughout the United States. Streetball is a form of basketball that is full of style and flair. Streetball moves are designed to wrong foot defenders and leaving them standing, while leaving spectators impressed at what they see. The best way to improve your streetball moves is practice them on a daily basis, develop the ability to perform your moves to both sides.
Step 1
Deceive your defensive player by using the Illusion streetball move. Hold the ball and extend your arm as if you are about to perform a one handed pass in a forward direction. Remain in full control of the ball with your right hand as your arm extends. Put the ball on your fingertips and throw it directly in the air with backspin. Follow through with a full step after the pass to make it look like you are about to run forward, this will put the defender on the back foot and you can step back and collect the loose ball with more space. Be wary after you pick up the loose ball to keep dribbling or perform a pass or shot. If you catch and hold the ball before dribbling again you will be called for a double dribble.
Step 2
Perform the spinning cross over to leave your defensive player confused and beaten. Dribble towards the defender with the ball in your right hand. As you reach to within a yard or so of the defender execute your streetball move. When you are a yard away the defender will begin to wonder whether or not to steal the ball, this moment of hesitation will work to your advantage. Cross over to your left hand before pivoting to turn your back on the defender. Cross over dribble back to your right hand before dribbling sharply between your legs, and spinning to face the defender catching the ball on your right hand. The key is quick movement to create a yard of space to accelerate past the defender. The ball should be on your right hand and the defender on your left shoulder, this way you can use your body to shield the ball away from the defender as you leave him behind.
Step 3
Change direction quickly with the Down You Go streetball move. Drive aggressively towards your defensive player until you have his entire body weight and momentum moving backwards. An immediate stop and step backwards while dribbling will create space for a pass or shot. If you stop and reverse quickly enough, your opposing defender may topple backwards as he tangles his feet in an attempt to keep up with you. As with all streetball moves, practice this move and as you become comfortable work on performing the skill at as quick a speed as possible.
