The Nioxin Scalp Treatment is a part of a three-step system, called System 1, from the hair product maker. This system is made for individuals with thin hair who wish to thicken strands and provide the scalp with essential nutrients for optimal health and growth. Ingredients found in the product include keratin, glycol, folic acid, niacin and biotin. For optimal results, the manufacturer recommends applying the product as soon as you start noticing thinning hair.
Step 1
Wash the hair with the Nioxin Cleanser. Wet the hair and lather after applying a small amount of the cleanser to the scalp. Rinse out the Nioxin Cleanser.
Step 2
Condition the hair with the Nioxin Scalp Therapy. Apply the conditioner to the wet hair after washing. Leave the product on for three minutes before rinsing out. You do not need to dry the hair prior to applying the third part of System 1, the Nioxin Scalp Treatment.
Step 3
Place a quarter-sized amount of the Nioxin Scalp Treatment in the palm of your hand. Apply the product directly onto the scalp in an even layer. Massage the solution into the scalp using your fingertips.
Step 4
Leave the solution on the scalp. It should not be rinsed off after application. Dry the hair and style as normal.
Step 5
Repeat usage daily. If you experience any type of irritation, you may want to reduce usage to every other day. Continue use as long as the product is effective at thickening the hair and encouraging regrowth.
Tips and Warnings
- According to the manufacturer, it is normal for some redness to occur after application. However, discontinue the product if you notice any burning or swelling after using the Nioxin Scalp Treatment.
- The manufacturer does not recommend Nioxin Scalp Treatment for chemically processed hair.
