L’Esperance provides a liver fast that comprises of drinking warm apple juice and dandelion leaf tea several times a day for at least two days. On the last day, an olive oil drink is consumed. This liver cleanse is designed to cleanse the liver and also remove gallstones.

The most obvious symptoms of a liver and gallbladder cleanse are the feelings of slight nausea prior to releasing waste from the liver, gallbladder and the colon.
In "The New Seasonal Detox Diet," L’Esperance details her olive oil cocktail made from cold-pressed olive oil, cream, hot apple cider and lemon juice. Consumed before going to sleep, she recommends readers use a hot water bottle and lie on the right side of the body to flood the liver with the olive oil. She writes that the next morning, several gallstones from bile salts are usually released.
