Honey has natural antibacterial and antioxidant properties that make it useful for the treatment of hair and scalp. In 2001 the Dubai Specialized Medical Centre published a study of individuals suffering from seborrheic dermatitis and hair loss. Treatment for the participants included a crude honey mixture applied to the scalp. The results of this study showed this routine stimulated healing and promoted hair growth. Applying honey in a similar manner may help keep your scalp healthy and improve hair grow.

Step 1

Mix honey and water in a bowl. This mixture should be 90 percent honey and 10 percent water. For example, if you add 9/10 Tbsp of honey, you would add 1/10 Tbsp of water.

Step 2

Dip your fingers into the diluted honey and rub it on your scalp. Massage yourscalp with the honey for two to three minutes. Coat your scalp thoroughly with the mixture and then run your fingers through your hair to cover the hair shafts.

Step 3

Leave the honey preparation in place for three hours.

Step 4

Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water to remove the honey. Apply the treatment to your scalp once a week.
