The point of combing and brushing hair is to neaten the appearance. If one uses a dirty comb or brush it can defeat the purpose altogether. Dirt, dust, and old particles from previously used styling products can cling to the bristles and transfer back into your hair if not regularly cleaned. Cleaning combs and brushes is a near effortless chore that requires very little of your time to perform and can keep them looking like new.
Step 1
Remove the hair that has become stuck within the bristles or teeth with your fingers. Comb through brush bristles with a comb to help remove hair quickly.
Step 2
Fill a bucket with warm water and add enough hair shampoo to make it sudsy.
Step 3
Drop the combs and brushes into the water making sure that they are completely covered with the water.
Step 4
Allow the combs and brushes to soak in the soapy water for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 5
Use a small brush such as a nail brush to remove any stubborn debris stuck on the combs and brushes.
Step 6
Rinse the combs and brushes off under warm running water.
Step 7
Place the combs and brushes on a soft clean dry towel to air dry.
