Face Exercises for Under Eyes

There are certain parts of the body that get a lot of attention when it comes to exercise and getting into shape. The butt, the stomach, the thighs and the arms are common areas that get hit with pinpoint accuracy to lose weight and tone up. When it comes to the area under the eyes, exercise is probably the last thing that comes to mind, but it shouldn't be. Various exercises can be done in this area to prevent wrinkles and to keep the skin in better shape.

Lower Lid Raises

Place your index fingers against your skin just below your eye lids. Apply slight pressure and try to close your lower lids. Focus on using the muscles under your eyes and lids to lift your fingers.

Crunches

Crunches are an exercise that is most common with the abdominal muscles. However, you can also do an eye crunch exercise to work the muscles. To do these, start with your eyes closed. Now lift your eyebrows as high as you can while contracting the area below your eyes downward as far as you can. Hold for 2 seconds, then crunch your eyes together and hold for 2 seconds. Go back and forth 10 to 12 times. Another variation you can do is opening your eyes really wide and closing them really tight.

Side Pressure

Place your index and middle fingers under your eyes in a vertical position. Pull the skin to the the sides and hold for 5 seconds. Now push your fingers the other direction until they come to your nose, and hold again for 5 seconds. Go back and forth 10 times total.

Up and Down Pressure

Place your index and middle fingers under your eyes the same way you did when you pushed to the sides. Pull down on the skin while you simultaneously close your eyes. Hold for 5 seconds and release. Do 10 to 12 reps total.

Jaw Lowering

Place the tips of your index and middle fingers right below your eye lids and at the top of your cheekbones. Close your eyes and and mouth. Apply some pressure with your fingers and jut out your lower jaw while moving it downwards. Hold for 5 seconds, and do 10 to 12 reps.
