Most men use food and think of food far differently than women. In general, men's' bodies have higher muscle to fat ratios than women's' bodies. Men also tend to get heavier around the stomach area than women, who tend to put on more weight in the hips and thighs. Men can impact their diets positively by eating healthier foods in general, but some foods and beverages seem to impact men's bodies and overall health.
Red Meat
Too much red meat is not good for anyone because of its high fat contact. Men tend to store fats around their midsections, and this can lead to heart disease. Physical exercise helps get rid of some of those fats, but men who do not reduce their intake of red meat are going to have excess fat around the midsection. Men who eat red meat more than twice a week are taking chances with their health. Substituting chicken and fish for red meat helps men feel better and live healthier.
Alcohol Intake
Men who drink more than twice a week tend to gain significant weight from drinking alcohol. Hard liquor and beer drinkers tend to pack on the weight and put most of it around their midsection. Heavy alcohol intake leads to heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. Cutting alcohol from your diet and lifestyle leads to greater health. At the very least, try to limit your alcohol to no more than two drinks, no more than twice a week.
Balanced Diet
A balanced diet that includes proteins, fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken and carbohydrates helps men look and feel better. The fuel you put in your body helps it run more efficiently. Men's bodies are much like furnaces that run at a high temperatures. As long as you put the right fuels in that furnace, it burns more effectively and efficiently.
