Hillsville, Virginia, offers a bevy of entertainment options. Outdoors enthusiasts will enjoy hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains while nature lovers will enjoy the breathtaking vistas. The area also offers antiquing, plentiful fishing, motorcross racing, easy access to nearby North Carolina, restaurants and wineries ideal for romantic weekends away.

Lakeridge RV Resort and Family Campground

The Lakeridge RV Resort and Family Campground provides sites for tents without power or RVs with full hookups. The campground also rents cabins. Two swimming pools, a four0-acre fishing lake, a huge game room, basketball court, café, camp store, paddle boats and mini golf help complete the experience for guests. Activities are planned regularly, in addition to live entertainment, weekly hayrides and a recreation room with a dance floor. Tent and RV rates, as of 2010, range from $24 up to $34 per night, with an additional $5 per-person fee. Cabins begin at $59 for a sleeper with no heat or air conditioning and up to $149 for the well-appointed “corporate house.”

Empty Nest Cabin

The Empty Nest Cabin provides a greater level of privacy for parties who want to experience the mountains in relative seclusion. The log cabin is made from salvaged logs and features a wrap-around porch, a hearthstone gas stove, beautiful furnishings and rooms that sleep up to eight individuals. The cabin offers beautiful views from the top of a peaceful mountaintop. As of 2010, rates begin at $125 and reservations are recommended.

Carrollwood Campground and Fish Lakes

Carrollwood Campground and Fish Lakes offers 80 camp sites including many with sewer, electrical and water. RV spaces can accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet. The grounds contain two lakes perfect for fishing, a recreational room, picnic pavilion, playground, on-site antique mall and showers. Pets are allowed on leashes only. The park is open from March 15 to November 30.

Laurel Bluff Cabins

The cabins at Laurel Bluff are set deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains with hiking just outside the door. Located just minutes away are three major speedways. The private cabins are designed for couples only and prove perfect for a romantic getaway. Music is offered via satellite and each cabin has a fireside jacuzzi. Each cabin also has a refrigerator and microwave. Advanced reservations are recommended.

Fancy Gap KOA

Just eight miles away in Fancy Gap, the Kampground of America offers sites for tents and RVs as well as cabin rentals. The maximum length for an RV is 75 feet and cable TV and Wi-Fi are provided free of charge. The campground includes a fishing pond, paddle boats for rent, and a club house with a 52-inch TV and meeting room. A swimming pool provides additional enjoyment from May 15 through September 15. As of 2010, tent camping begins at just $26 per night. Rates top out at approximately $95 per night for a KOA cabin.
