The skin around your eyes is delicate and, according to MediNiche.com, ten times thinner than any other area of your face. In addition, few oil glands in this area, 10,000 blinking movements and rubbing, tugging and pulling make your eyes the first place to begin showing signs of aging. ROC eye cream is a hypoallergenic product designed for use in this delicate area and is, according to the company, clinically proven to deliver results.

Humectant

Humectants form a protective moisture barrier on the skin around the eyes by attracting and binding with water in the air, and then preventing this moisture from escaping. Humectant ingredients in ROC eye cream include acrylates/C10 30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, butylene glycol, glycerin, PEG 8 and sorbitan stearate.

Emollients

Emollients are oil-based moisturizing ingredients that penetrate the skin and protect it from dryness. ROC moisturizers include shea butter, C12 15 alkyl benzoate, caprylyl glycol, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, cyclomethicone, dimethicone, isononyl isononanoate, isopropyl myristate, lactoferrin, panthenol, sucrose cocoate and vegetable oil.

Emulsifiers

Emulsifier ingredients are binding agents that prevent oil and water-based ingredients from separating. They also work to thicken the cream and provide a smooth texture. Emulsifying ingredients include carbomer, cetearyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, glyceryl stearate, glycine soja protein, PEG 100 stearate, polysorbate 20, steareth 2, steareth 21, stearyl alcohol and xanthan gum.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are anti-aging ingredients. They work to stop the process of cell oxidation and the resulting break down of collagen, which is the main cause of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. Ascorbic acid, magnesium aluminum silicate, retinol and tocopherol are the anti-aging ingredients in ROC eye cream.

Exfoliant

The exfoliant ingredient BHA prevents skin pores from clogging by removing dead skin cells and oils. This process results in brighter looking skin and the development of new skin cells.

Chelating Agents

The ingredients cooper gluconate and zinc gluconate neutralize trace minerals found in hard water, preventing other ingredients from binding to these minerals and leaving a film on your skin.

Preservatives

These ingredients extend the shelf life of ROC eye cream by preventing contamination from germs and bacteria. Preservative ingredients include BHT, chlorhexidine digluconate, disodium EDTA, lactose, methylparaben, phenoxyethanol and propylparaben.

Other Ingredients

Euphorbia cerifera wax and hydrogenated vegetable oil form a protective film that allows the cream to stay on your skin for a longer time. Neoruscogenin is a skin-tightening ingredient that works as a vasoconstrictor. Sodium hydroxide and tromethamine are pH regulators. ROC eye cream also includes a fragrance and although listed last, water, which is actually present in the largest quantity.
