MayoClinic.com describes alcoholism as a chronic disease that makes people physically dependent on alcohol. The inability to control consumption and when the drinking occurs are also dependency markers. There is a difference between alcoholism and alcohol abuse. Abuse exhibits only some of the symptoms of alcoholism, with excessive consumption causing problems in your life. A number of treatment programs are available in Houston to assist with both alcoholism and alcohol abuse.
