Assuming your hoop navel ring fits properly and is made of a high-quality material, you can wear it indefinitely. However, your first belly button ring, chosen for safety during the healing process, may not express your style the way you want. Before you change your belly button ring, however, you should ensure that the healing process is complete, the piercing is not tender and it is not secreting fluids which dry up and get crusty, advises the Association of Professional Piercers.
