Brain cancer can be a debilitating form of cancer, as the malignant tumor can interfere with normal brain function. But without a CT scan or an MRI scan of your brain, it is not easy to diagnose a brain tumor. For some people, their brain tumors are asymptomatic; others have symptoms that resemble other diseases. If you notice any of the warning signs of brain cancer, talk to your doctor about getting the appropriate diagnostic examinations.
Headaches
While people have headaches for many reasons, they can be a symptom of a brain tumor. Headaches that are because of brain cancer will be located in one area, where the tumor is creating pressure on the brain. However, one headache is not a warning sign---an onset of chronic headaches or a change in pattern in headaches is an indicator. In addition, if you notice that your headaches have become more frequent or severe, this can be a possible symptom.
Nausea & Vomiting
If you start feeling nauseous often, or are vomiting frequently, this can indicate a possible brain tumor. However, make sure that the nausea and vomiting are not caused by another condition, such as the flu, pregnancy or anxiety. Nausea and vomiting are most likely warning signs when you also have another symptom of brain cancer.
Seizures
If you do not have a history of seizures, having a seizure can be a serious indicator of a brain tumor. Seizures are because of abnormal electrical activity in the brain, and damage to the brain tissue, as with a brain tumor, can lead to a seizure. Seek medical attention if you have a seizure, as the other causes of seizures are also severe.
Vision Problems
Vision problems, especially those that have a rapid onset, can be a warning sign of brain cancer. Examples of vision problems that can be caused by a malignant brain tumor include blurred vision, double vision and a loss of your peripheral vision.
Loss of Sensation
Having a loss of sensation or movement in one of your limbs can be a warning sign of brain cancer, especially if you start having problems with balance. However, this loss of sensation should not be a previous condition or due to another disorder.
