A double chin comes from excess weight or sagging skin due to weight gain or the natural aging process. To eliminate a double chin, exercise and diet prove to be a valuable tool, making your face look thinner and burning fat deposits that have collected underneath the skin. There are also cosmetic options that provide temporary relief for double chin. Speak with your dermatologist or licensed plastic surgeon for cosmetic procedures.

Step 1

Lie with your back flat against the floor, suggests CareFair.com. Raising your head slowly, touch your chin to your chest. Return to starting position and repeat the head lift 10 times. Slowly work your way up to 50 repetitions as you perform this exercise daily.

Step 2

Chew your food properly. According to the Facial Exercises Guide, chewing your food thoroughly will define your jawline, reducing fat under the chin. It is not necessary to chew your food to the consistency of mush, however chewing enough to break down all particles is recommended.

Step 3

Lose weight through proper diet and exercise. Running, walking, aerobics and yoga help stretch and tone the major muscle groups, even in your face, according to the Facial Exercises Guide. Limiting calorie intake by eating fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lowfat dairy and lean meats will help shed excess pounds.

Step 4

Form your mouth in an O and say "ahh," releasing the lower jaw and working the chin muscles. According to the Facial Exercises Guide, the tip of your tongue should touch the lower teeth while performing this technique. This is meant to relieve stress and built up emotional energy in your chin and jaw as per the yogic system.

Step 5

Open your mouth wide, allowing your tongue to protrude from your mouth as far as comfortably possible. Widen your eyes and hold for the count of ten. Return your face to normal and repeat for five repetitions, suggests CareFair.com. This exercise will tone the entire face, including jawline and chin.
