How to Make a Good Shampoo at Home

Shampoo can be made at home using a variety of natural ingredients. Some people may prefer to create their own shampoo to avoid chemicals and ingredients found in many salon hair cleansers. The shampoo takes about 45 minutes to make and uses dried herbs and castile soap. The herbs have a variety of effects including removing oils from the scalp and antioxidants.

Step 1

Boil distilled water. Add dried rosemary, sage and lavender to water and set aside for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Add the MSM after the water has cooled for 30 minutes. Wait 10 minutes until the MSM has melted. Strain the dried herbs from the water.

Step 3

Mix the herbal mixture to the mason jar. Add castile soap and place a lid on the jar. Shake well.
