Biorhythms, first studied over 3,000 years ago in Asia, are the rhythms and patterns of your biological clock. Divided into a physical cycle, an emotional cycle and an intellectual cycle, your biorhythms begin the moment you are born and continue until the day you die. Each cycle operates at different intervals, coursing through active and passive phases that create an impact on your daily life. While their existence has not been proven, various practitioners in the psychiatric, medical and academic worlds have been researching and studying biorhythms since Wilhelm Fliess pioneered the field in the 19th century.
Primary Rhythms
The primary biorhythms are the physical, emotional and intellectual cycles. The physical cycle, which controls health, endurance, strength and motor skills, runs on a 23-day pattern. The emotional biorhythm runs on a 28-day cycle; it impacts positive psychic energy and positive attitude toward life as well as your ability to connect with other people. The intellectual cycle, a 33-day rhythm, focuses on your intellectual skills; reason and analysis fall victim to this cycle, as do your mathematical, verbal and creative abilities.
Secondary Rhythms
The secondary biorhythms spawn from the blending of two primary rhythms. Your intellectual and physical cycles mesh to form your mastery biorhythm, which controls your ability to succeed at tasks and learn physical skills. Your passion biorhythm combines your physical and emotional cycles The passion biorhythm impacts your motivation, enthusiasm and sexuality. The emotional and intellectual cycles blend to form your wisdom biorhythm, which influences your understanding and perception of the world and your ability to make critical decisions.
Intuitive Biorhythm
People began tracking a fourth biorhythm, intuition, years after the origin of the original three biorhythms. As a result, the intuition cycle is not considered a primary rhythm. Your intuition biorhythm controls your unconscious and subconscious perception as well as your instincts. It meshes with the primary rhythms to form your extra rhythms, or intuitive patterns.
Extra Rhythms
The extra biorhythm cycles that spawn from the intuitive and primary rhythms are the perception, psychic and success rhythms. Perception is the combination of your physical and intuition biorhythms, blending your physical five senses with your intuitive, ethereal senses. The psychic rhythm combines your emotional and intuition cycles, aiding with ESP and precognition, while the mix of intellectual and intuition helps determine your success patterns.
Critical Days
Your critical days are the days when one of your biorhythms is beginning the transition from active to passive or passive to active. When the abilities associated with that rhythm either peak or bottom out, they become unstable as they transition to the next part of their cycle. These are the days when you should be cautious in regard to that biorhythm's abilities. Your critical days become even more important when two, or even three, biorhythms transition at the same time.
