Pores are openings found on the body with many appearing on and around the nose. Pores allow the allow glands underneath the skin release oil, or sebum. The pores can become clogged and appear large. Clogged pores can appear as blackheads or whiteheads. As people age pores slightly enlarge as well. Several at home treatments can close open pores on the face temporarily. There are no permanent treatments to close or reduce pore size.
Step 1
Boil four cups of water. Allow to slightly cool. Place face over the steam and then a towel over the head.
Step 2
Steam face for about 15 minutes. Add dried herbs such as lavender and mint for an additional relaxing scent.
Step 3
Dry face by patting gently. Cut a lemon into then slices. Recline on back and lay lemon slices on face. Allow to sit for five to 10 minutes. Rinse face with warm water and pat dry.
Step 4
Add ice cubes to face for a quick fix to reduce pore size. Rub ice cube on open pores---the cold temperature will contract skin, temporarily closing pores.
Step 5
Use a pore minimizing make up foundation. Ask a skin specialist for items that will fill pores prior to applying makeup. Inquire about products containing silicone that temporarily fill open pore areas.
