Natural Ways to Get Rid of Skin Tags

Skin tags are a bothersome yet harmless growth protruding from your skin. They generally occur in folding areas such as the neck, under the breasts and armpits as well as skin that is frequently in contact with clothing. It is not necessary healthwise to remove skin tags, but they can be visibly unappealing. There are many natural remedies to help get rid of this skin growth.

Nail Polish

Nail polish can help eliminate skin tags. Apply a clear coat of polish up to three times daily. Do this as often as needed until your skin tag falls off. This may take anywhere from four days to two weeks depending on size of your skin tag.

Tie Skin Tags

Tying the skin tag will help cut off blood circulation to excess skin. You may use dental floss, thread for sewing or fishing line to tie onto the base of the tag. Once it is starved from the constricted blood flow, it will fall off your skin. This generally takes a few days.

Cut Skin Tags

Cutting off skin tags is the quickest, yet most painful form of removal. Disinfect the tag as well as the surrounding skin with rubbing alcohol before cutting. You may use nail clippers or scissors to do this; be sure they are thoroughly disinfected as well. Cut at the base of the tag and then apply hydrogen peroxide to the affected area. To stop excessive bleeding, apply pressure to the area with a clean towel.

Baking Soda

You can use a blend of baking soda and water or baking soda and castor oil to eliminate skin tags. Combine equal parts of each to create a thick, smooth paste. Apply the paste up to three times daily and let fully dry. Cover with a bandage and leave mixture on the skin tag as long as possible. It may take one to two weeks to see results.

Warning

Natural remedies can be helpful at getting rid of skin tags, but the Mayo Clinic suggests you seek professional treatment. Be sure that the skin growth is not malignant or does not indicate underlying health problems before attempting home treatments.
