Almost everyone has at least some cellulite. Men tend to have it on their bellies, while women can see it by pinching the front of a thigh. Cellulite lumps are deposits of fat that are trapped beneath the skin within the connective tissues. The tissue fibers are too weak to hold it all in, so it bulges out around them, becoming more visible as you age and your skin becomes thinner. It's not easy to get rid of, but you can reduce it.
Eating & Drinking
Step 1
Drink plenty of water. This helps your body eliminate its stores of fat more efficiently. If you currently drink beverages with caffeine, substitute them for water. Caffeine causes you to retain water, which increases the amount of cellulite on your body.
Step 2
Swear off fried food and avoid butter, mayonnaise and other fatty condiments. The more fat you ingest, the more your body stores. In addition, avoid excessive sodium, as it forces your body to hold in water stores, enabling it to create new fat.
Step 3
Eat at least three servings of fresh fruit and vegetables per day. Foods that are rich in antioxidants will help your body dispose of toxins and flush out stores of fat. A vitamin C supplement can help, but fresh berries, citrus fruits and vegetables are an even better option, providing a wide array of nutrients.
Exercise
Step 1
Spend at least 30 minutes per day doing a cardiovascular activity that keeps your legs moving. Poor circulation is one factor that causes cellulite. Bicycling, walking, swimming and using an elliptical trainer are all effective ways to improve your circulation. They also help you burn excess fat.
Step 2
Do a strength-training circuit at least twice a week to speed up your metabolism and lower your overall amount of body fat, leaving less to be stored.
Step 3
Beware of creams that supposedly reduce cellulite. Some of them may plump up the skin, making the appearance of cellulite less noticeable, but most of them will not reduce it.
