Aspirin is an over-the-counter medication that you can use to dry up acne and reduce inflammation. Only a few minutes of time and a few simple ingredients are necessary to create an acne treatment paste. According to "Handbook of Dermatology: A Practical Manual," it is safe for most people to use an aspirin acne treatment three times per week. However, it is recommended that you consult a dermatologist if utilizing this treatment three times per week does not produce the results you desire.

Step 1

Crush one uncoated aspirin with the mortar and pestle. According to "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice," you should avoid enteric coated aspirin when creating an acne treatment paste because the coating acts as a shell and can create rough, sharp edges that can harm the skin.

Step 2

Add approximately 5 drops of water to the mortar and mix it with the crushed aspirin with a spoon. If the aspirin and water do not form a smooth paste, add water in approximately 3-drop increments until a smooth paste is formed.

Step 3

Apply a small amount of the aspirin paste to the make up sponge with the spoon. Avoid touching the aspirin paste with your hands because according to "Foundations of Nursing," oil, which could lead to acne, could be transferred from your hands to the aspirin paste and from the aspirin paste to your face.

Step 4

Apply the aspirin paste to your acne with the make up sponge. Allow the paste to rest on your skin for approximately 15 minutes, then wash it off with facial cleanser. According to "Braun-Falco's Dermatology," it is best to splash cold water on your face after cleansing to constrict the pores and reduce the possibility of oil and bacteria entering the pores.
