One popular way to detox the body is to follow a program that will detox the colon. By removing toxins that may have built up in the colon and are being absorbed by your body, you may be able to lose weight, have more energy, and avoid diseases and conditions related to a toxic colon. Before you begin a colon detox program, consult with your doctor or qualified health professional.

Chet Day's Health and Beyond Program

In Chet Day's Health and Beyond program, there is a general cleansing program and an intensive program. The general program involves drinking a lot of water, avoiding junk food and dairy foods, and using your preferred colon cleansing product at predetermined intervals.

The intensive program is three weeks long and also involves using your preferred colon cleansing product, but this plan adds in purified water and apple juice. The program also recommends that you stay home when following this program, as you will need quick access to the bathroom.

Colonix Program

The program developed by DrNatura includes 40 herbal ingredients, fiber in powder form, and an anti-parasite component that is vegetarian, not gelatin. The program lasts for one month and is a three-step plan. Before using this colon cleanse program, consult your doctor.

The Perfect Cleanse

The Perfect Cleanse is a three-step program manufactured by Garden of Life. The three separate products are Purify, which cleanses the liver, Capture, which is fiber to detoxify your colon, and Remove, which is designed to support your body during detoxification.

Purify and Remove capsules are vegetarian, not gelatin. Before you attempt this colon detox program, see your doctor for clarification and clearance.

Lifestyle Change

One of the more simple ways to detox and cleanse the colon is to follow a healthier lifestyle. By making a lifestyle change, you are providing your body with foods that will naturally help rid the colon of toxins that can cause disease and poor overall body function.

Lifestyle changes include avoiding the following: chemicals from food and other sources, refined food, sugar, caffeine, alcohol and tobacco. Although changing your lifestyle to include more healthy foods and breaking unhealthy habits, it is still a good idea to consult with your doctor or nutritionist to make sure your body is getting the nutrients it needs.
