Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum is a facial skin care product manufactured by the Oil of Olay company. Olay.com describes this cream as one that leaves the skin feeling smooth, with a younger-looking and regenerated appearance. The company also says this serum deeply hydrates to make skin look firmer and more lifted.

Camellia Sinensis

Camellia sinensis, or green tea extract, is listed as one of the main ingredients in Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum. "Skin Pharmacology and Physiology" states that green tea extract in cosmetic formulations has been suggested to protect against skin aging and damage caused by ultraviolet rays. The journal published a study by researchers at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil who found that the ingredients epiallocatechin-3-gallate and quercetin from green tea extracts in cosmetic formulations had good skin penetration and retention, with favorable skin effects.

Tocopheryl Acetate

Another ingredient in Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum is tocopheryl acetate, a form of vitamin E also called vitamin E acetate. A study published in the "Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology" found that the skin is protected against the harmful effects of sunlight after topical application of vitamin E acetate. The researchers, working at Leiden University in the Netherlands, concluded that vitamin E acetate acts as a "prodrug" that slowly releases small amounts of active vitamin E.

Allantoin

Allantoin is a top ingredient in Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum. The Skin Care website describes it as an effective anti-aging skin care ingredient. Allantoin is extracted from the leaves and roots of the comfrey plant and has skin-softening properties.

Citric Acid

Citric acid, another key ingredient, is a type of alpha hydroxy acid. According to the Food and Drug Administration, alpha hydroxy acids are used in cosmetic products to help smooth fine lines and surface wrinkles, unblock pores and improve skin tone. They work by causing shedding, or exfoliation, of the surface skin.

Other Ingredients
