Several factors contribute to the development of pimples on your skin. These pustules develop just below the surface of the skin and cause inflammation, swelling, redness and sensitivity to the area. Many pimples also develop a white head filled with pus, a byproduct of infection under the skin. Fortunately, pimples are only temporary blemishes that fade away over time. You can help expedite the healing process with a few at-home remedies. Just be sure not to damage the skin through your treatment--this can lead to scarring once the pimple has healed.
Step 1
Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser, preferably one free of harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin. Washing the skin helps soften it and clear away dead skin, oil and bacteria that may cause your pimples. Keeping your skin clean will help pimples recede faster, since you are eliminating many of the causes of acne.
Step 2
Apply a warm compress to the skin periodically throughout the day. According to FOX News, a warm compress applied to the pimple for 3 to 5 minutes every 2 to 4 hours will help speed up the healing process. The key is making sure the water is not too hot for your skin. FOX News reports that this method of treatment should eliminate pimples within 24 and 36 hours.
Step 3
Dab tea tree oil onto a pimple. Tea tree oil is a natural lotion with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities. Dab a small amount directly onto the pimple twice daily for 2 or 3 days. If you don't have tea tree oil, witch hazel is also effective.
