Whether you are a morning person or trying to be a morning exercise person, a nice morning run can be a very invigorating way to start the day. If weight loss if your goal, you should know morning exercisers are more likely to stick to their routines and achieve their goals. There are so many distractions throughout the day, run in the morning when there are no distractions.

Step 1

Try drinking some water and grabbing a light breakfast. Doing so will actually help you on your quest to lose weight. Drinking water first thing in the morning can help you burn calories. For a light breakfast try a protein bar. Protein bars will fill you up and help you later avoid unnecessary snacking.

Step 2

Run regularly. If possible run on a daily basis, for at least 30 minutes each morning. Step 3

Go the distance. When running for weight loss, intense running is very effective at burning calories and fat. However, covering distance and taking your time will reduce your risk of injuries. Also, keep in mind that you will be able to go further if you take it slow and run a distance. The faster you go, the quicker your exercise will come to a halt for the morning.

  • If you aren't a morning person, get into the routine of getting up early. Even if you can't bring yourself to get on the treadmill or hit the pavement, get used to getting up early even if that means just cleaning or making yourself breakfast. Eventually, you can turn your morning routine into a running routine. Get a pedometer and track your progress. Seeing success will make you more likely to stick with your new morning running routine.
  • If it is going to be dark out for your morning run, wear bright colors or some sort of reflective clothing.
