Most kids get excited at the prospect of playing on an inflatable bouncing structure. These used to be found only at carnivals or birthday parties, but now are available from many rental companies for anytime use in the yard. In addition, other inflatable toys can be played with in the yard by kids of all ages.

Pools

Inflatable pools are becoming more and more popular in yards as an alternative to the plastic wading pools present in most yards with kids. The blow up versions come in many sizes and often have slides attached. Kids can play with pouring and filling toys, squirt guns or kitchen gadgets in the pool. Children should be supervised at all times while playing in the pool, and caregivers should learn CPR in case of an accident.

Structures

Inflatable structures are available for rental from many party supply companies, and kids can play on them at parties or just for fun. These blow up toys come in many themes and sizes, so finding a good match for any purpose is always likely. To play, children get inside and bounce around on the inside, which is filled with air. Many of these structures also have climbing walls and slides attached. The Bouncer Directory offers safety tips for bouncing structure use. These include not jumping in poor weather, supervising children at all times and not allowing too many children in at a time to prevent injuries. Additionally, very young children should not jump with older kids because they fall easier and can be jumped on.

Sports

Inflatable sports equipment can be bought or rented from many places. These include basketball hoops to bowling sets to tennis rackets. Almost any type of sports equipment is available in a blow-up version. To play, children simply use the inflated sports toys as they would traditional equipment. Many of these sports sets can be used in the pool and pose less risk of injury. The Home Safety Council reminds parents to supervise kids playing any type of sport in the yard to help prevent accidents from occurring.
