Freestyle motocross trick tips will help you develop your in-air spinning abilities as well as increase your overall motocross score. Freestyle motocross tricks are always performed after a rider has jumped off of a ramp. While in mid-air, it is your job to perform a variety of tricks and spins before landing on the ground. Freestyle motocross jumps are scored by difficulty, fluidity and distance.

Freestyle Motocross Coffin Trick

This trick will teach you how to extend your legs in front of your handle bars while in mid-air. Start your engine 50 feet from a dirt packed ramp. Keep your speed high and body tucked to decrease wind resistance. At the top of the jump, lift up on the handle bars and push out into the air. While you are in the air, remove your hands from the handle bars and slide your legs under the handle bars. Lie flat on your back and extend your body headfirst toward your back tire. According to the Freestyle Motocross website, you will be awarded points based on how far your legs extend.

Freestyle Motocross Indian Air Trick

This Indian air trick will help you develop a scissor kick move while in mid-air. Start your motorcycle's engine and speed down the ramp toward its highest peak. Once you reach the top of the jump, rev the engine and pull up on your front handle bars. Once you hit the highest point of your jump, delicately hop off the left or right side of your bike, keeping your hands on the handle bars the entire time. Kick your legs in a scissor-like motion while on the side of the motorcycle before pushing yourself back onto the seat. If you get a lot of air on your jump, you can perform this trick multiple times while in mid-air.

Freestyle Motocross Landing Trick

This landing trick will help you score extra points while landing your freestyle motocross trick. After jumping off a motocross ramp, perform a few basic in-air tricks. As you start to descend toward the landing ramp, lift your hands off of the handle bars and your feet off of the foot pedals. While you are in this vulnerable position, keep your body weight centered to properly brace yourself for impact. Attempt to stick the landing without using your hands and feet to steady yourself. This landing will add points to your overall score.
