Forehead wrinkles develop much like any other wrinkle on the face. For most people, repeated facial expressions as well as the loss of fat, collagen and skin elasticity cause depressions to form in the underlying layers of the skin along your forehead. This leads to wrinkling. However, there are a few treatment options available to reduce and even remove this natural sign of aging.

Step 1

Consult a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon. Before treating forehead wrinkles, talk to a medical professional to help determine the best course of action. Both dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons can suggest the most appropriate form of treatment for the depth and intensity of wrinkling.

Step 2

Reduce wrinkling with botulinum toxin type A, suggests MayoClinic.com. Commonly referred to by the brand name Botox, this injectable substance prevents muscle contractions along injection sites. When the muscles are unable to contract and tighten, the area relaxes and smooths the wrinkles with the rest of the forehead. The effects typically last around three to four months.

Step 3

Fill forehead wrinkles with a soft tissue filler, suggests The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Hyaluronic acid, collagen and fat can all be used to plump up wrinkles along your forehead, evening them out with the rest of the skin. Fillers can last anywhere between two to four months.

Step 4

Undergo a forehead lift. The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery also lists forehead lift as a potential option to remove forehead wrinkles. In this cosmetic procedure, your surgeon basically removes and tightens the loose, excess skin of the forehead. This smooths and flattens the skin of the forehead and brows, thereby eliminating the wrinkles.
