How to Make Rosemary Oil for Hair

According to "Hair and Hair Care," rosemary oil strengthens and fortifies hair. While rosemary oil can be used alone as a hair treatment, according to "The Science of Hair Care," creating a rosemary oil treatment with rosemary oil, sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil and lecithin enhances the effects of the rosemary oil, resulting in a quality hot rosemary oil treatment. The treatment can be made at home in about an hour.

Step 1

Combine 2 oz. sweet almond oil, 1/2 oz. avocado oil, 1 tsp. wheat germ oil, 1/2 tsp. lecithin and 15 drops rosemary oil in a small bowl. Whisk the ingredients together.

Step 2

Microwave a large bowl with 4 cups of water until the water is boiling. Place the small bowl with the rosemary oil mixture in the large bowl for three minutes to warm the mixture. According to "Hair Care: An Illustrated Dermatologic Handbook," this method of warming a rosemary oil mixture ensures that it maintains its potency.

Step 3

Pour the rosemary oil mixture onto your scalp. Massage the oil into your hair, starting from the roots and working your way down the shafts. Leave the rosemary oil mixture in your hair for 30 minutes and then rinse and shampoo as usual.
