How to Use Pressure Points to Cure a Headache
Overview
Pressure points have been used to cure headaches for centuries. The process predates all medications for headaches and there are no side effects. Using pressure points is convenient since they can be manipulated anywhere at anytime. You can do it yourself or have someone do it for you. All you need is to know where they are.
Step 1
Press the points on the sides of the head next to your eyes. These are known as the temples. This flat surface between the corner of your eyes and your ears is full of nerve endings. Apply steady pressure in a circular motion with your fingers. Move the pressure around to stimulate the pressure points around the temples.
Step 2
Locate the two pressure points between your eyes. They are at the end of your eyebrows. If you have a unibrow or pluck your eyebrows, feel around for the inside corner of your eye sockets. The pressure points are on both sides of the bridge of your nose.
Step 3
Move your index finger to your widow's peak. This is the spot at the top of your forehead at your hairline directly above your nose. Press the point in a firm, circular motion. This will stimulate nerves around your skull.
Step 4
Trace a line from your widow's peak along your hairline to the sides. There are many sensitive nerves along your hairline. Working them from the inside out can shed pain from your head. When you get to the sides of your forehead, move your fingers to the center again and trace your hairline outward. Only move in an outward direction.
Step 5
Place your finger in the gap directly below your ear. This is behind your earlobe right where your ear is connected to your head. Open and close your jaw as you press here. Many headaches form because of jaw tension. Using this pressure point can relieve jaw tension and cure the headache.
Step 6
Reach around to the back of your neck and find the pressure points at the base of the skull. There are two gaps at the sides of the spine just below the skull. Press these points inward and upward with steady pressure. Move the pressure down the sides of the neck on both sides of the spine until you reach the shoulders. Many headaches are caused by tension in the neck. These pressure points will help cure these types of headaches.
