Manicures and pedicures are a treat and an effective way to promote healthy nail growth. Nail treatments at a salon or spa are nice, but you can take care of your nails at home. A three-way buffer is nail tool that combines the three main nail care steps in one. It is highly portable and can be done anywhere after nails are prepped.
Step 1
Start with clean nails. Remove old nail polish. Wash your hands, taking care to clean the nailbed thoroughly. Dry hands with a towel.
Step 2
Use the "rough" side to gently file the top of the nail (the area you normally paint). Gently file the tips to even them out and remove rough edges if necessary. Each side of a three-way buffer is typically numbered. This would be number one. There may be some light dust, use a dry cloth to remove it.
Step 3
Use the "waxy" side, usually labeled number two, to go over the same area. This steps conditions the nails by smoothing out the finite cracks or ridges on the nail bed.
Step 4
Use the "smooth" side, usually labeled number three, to buff the nail bed. The smooth texture seals the nail and adds a natural shine.
