Losing weight quickly for a special event, day or gathering can seem like a tough task. However, if you use the right tools, you can lose weight and see changes in your body quickly. Start by writing down your goals so you have something to work toward. Daily, weekly and monthly goals are a good place to start.

Pace Yourself

It might be tempting to speed up your results by using weight-loss pills, powders or potions. But resist the temptation, unless your doctor recommends medication. In order to achieve healthy, sustainable weight loss, aim to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week through proper diet and exercise.

Cardio Training

Losing weight is all about burning more calories than you consume. Aerobic activities such as running, swimming or a cardio class are effective ways to burn calories. To lose weight quickly, add some high-intensity cardio to your workouts. Activities like running and kickboxing can burn calories quickly. You also can hire a trainer or sign up for a fitness boot camp to jump start your weight loss.

Strength Training

According to the Cleveland Clinic, an effective exercise routine should include strength training and flexibility exercises in addition to aerobic activity. Adding weight training into your routine tones muscle and boosts your metabolism so that you burn more calories even after you've ended your workout. To speed up your weight loss, add fast-paced weight training like circuit training or high-intensity interval training.

Diet

Since 1 pound equals 3,500 calories, you need to reduce your caloric intake by 500 to 1000 calories per day to lose about 1 to 2 pounds per week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Combine a healthy diet with a stepped-up workout regimen to get the quickest weight loss results. Eat whole, fresh foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.

Lifestyle

Adopting a healthy lifestyle is the best way to optimize your weight loss. Exercise daily, choose healthy foods, and surround yourself with people who share your goals. Support from your friends and family will help you stay determined and will speed up your weight loss.
