Pain is never an easy thing to deal with, especially when it appears in the stomach. It can come and go without notice or it can be a gradual, chronic pain that lasts a long time. When it comes to the lower right side of the abdomen, there are organs, muscles connective tissue and digestive parts working 24 hour shifts. Over the course of time, pain can take place and there can be several reasons why, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Rupture
The aorta is a large artery stemming from the bottom of the heart, and it is responsible for supplying blood to the whole body. When an aortic aneurysm is present, there can be a rupture in the artery causing pain in the chest and the lower right side of the abdomen.
Tumors
Cancer is one of the most deadly diseases known to man. When tumors develop in the lower right side of the abdomen, pain can develop. Some specific types that can cause pain there include liver cancer, ovarian cancer and colon cancer. Another type of cancer called "lymphoma" can also appear in the lower right abdomen. In this case, a tumor can possibly be felt.
Appendicitis
The appendix is a small bundle of tissue located on the lower right side of the abdomen, near where the small intestine joins the large intestine, and serves no meaningful purpose to the body. But when it becomes inflamed and filled with pus, it can be a big deal to the body. Pain can develop and if the appendix were to burst, it can be quite severe. A procedure called an "appendectomy" is done to remove the infected appendix.
Female Reproductive Problems
The endometrium lines the inside of the uterus. But when it grows on other places like the fallopian tubes and ovaries, a condition called "endometriosis" can develop. In this condition, blood gets trapped in these other areas instead of being evacuated from the body during a menstrual cycle. If this takes place on the right side of the abdomen, pain can be experienced in that area.
Diverticula
Diverticula are small bulging pouches that can appear on your large or small intestines. Diverticulosis is the condition given when they are just present. But when they are infected or inflamed, "diverticulitis" takes place. If the inflamed diverticula are on the lower right side of your digestive tract, then you can experience pain there.
Stones
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that are responsible for flushing toxins from the body through urine. When acid salts and various minerals clump together on the inside walls of your kidneys, "stones" can develop. If they form in the right kidney, pain can be felt on that side of the abdomen.
