If you want to get rid of acne quickly, you need to start a skin care regimen right away. Your condition may worsen if you don't treat the pimples. The Teens Health website says controlling the amount of oil buildup on the face is an effective way to stop acne lesions. In the meantime, avoid popping or squeezing pimples as a fast method to heal acne. Squeezing or popping increases your chance of scarring.

Step 1

Wash your face twice a day. To get rid of oil on the skin, cleanse the skin twice daily with a mild soap. Massage the soap gently into the skin and rinse with lukewarm water. Scrubbing too hard irritates the skin.

Step 2

Apply an over-the-counter acne treatment to clean skin. Teens Health website states that benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid lotions, gels and creams are helpful for preventing and treating pimples. The medication should be applied to the entire acne-prone area--not just directly on the blemishes.

Step 3

Review your cosmetics. Your skin care and makeup products should be labeled oil free, non-comedogenic or won't clog pores. These products don't clog the pores with oil and cause acne.

Step 4

Shampoo daily. Remove oil from the hair by shampooing regularly. According to the American Academy of Dermatology this reduces oil transference to the skin. Hair products such as gels and hairsprays should be kept away from the skin since they can cause breakouts.

Step 5

Receive a prescription from your doctor. If your acne is severe and it doesn't go away with home treatment, then discuss prescriptions with your doctor. Combination therapies that involve the use of several medications such as antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoids help relieve acne quickly.
