Finding a new boyfriend may seem almost an impossible task, particularly if you live in a small community or lead a busy life. You may not know how to set aside time to meet available guys, much less find one with whom you would want to build a relationship. You may even feel tempted at times to resign yourself to single life. By embracing change in different areas of your life, though, you can find a guy who is right for you.

Step 1

Learn a new skill or take on a new hobby, such as learning salsa dancing, picking up tennis lessons or taking a public speaking class. Seeking to make a positive, concrete change in one area of your life will energize you and will help you to feel more confident in embracing new opportunities in other areas, such as a new dating relationship.

Step 2

Look for opportunities to develop new friendships with both guys and girls in different areas of your life. For example, you might connect over coffee with a coworker, or you might invite all the singles you know to bring a friend to a potluck dinner at your home. Expanding your community will help you to connect with more available guys, as well.

Step 3

Explore new places both in your immediate community and farther afield. For example, you and your girlfriends may have talked for some time about explorinjg a certain part of town. If so, put that plan into action, and generously sprinkle your itinerary with stops that will help you to meet single guys in that area.

Step 4

Embrace new commitments in your life, such as volunteering as a mentor at a junior high or high school, or signing on to help run a local food pantry during the summer. New commitments will not only help you to experience more fulfillment in your everyday life, but they also will help you connect with more potential dating partners.

Step 5

Recruit your friends and family members to help you locate a new boyfriend. Keep your criteria list short, and then go out on at least one, if not two dates, with every guy they suggest. Henry Cloud, in "How to Get a Date Worth Keeping," stresses that "you can't really assume you have gotten a good picture of someone after only one date." Instead, allow yourself to go on at least two or more.

Step 6

Keep your focus on giving into the lives of the guys whom you date, rather than getting something for yourself. Gary Chapman, in "The Five Love Languages for Singles," explains that when you focus on giving, you actually increase your chances of finding a fulfilling relationship.

Tips and Warnings

  • Remain dedicated to finding a new boyfriend who is right for you, even if you do not meet with success at first. As with any worthwhile endeavor, your perseverance and commitment will help you to see the results that you desire.
  • Avoid settling into old routines in your life, no matter how comfortable they are, and even enlist your community to keep you accountable in this area.
