How to Get Rid of Frown Lines

Frown lines appear right between the eyebrows. They are the result of years of frowning, making faces and the skin's natural tendency to become less elastic. Although they are non life-threatening and they do not cause any physical pain, they can still be tough to deal with when you look in the mirror. Fortunately, there are several ways to get rid of them.

Step 1

Get a forehead lift. One of the quickest ways to get rid of frown lines is by getting a forehead lift, also known as a "brow lift." During this procedure, an incision is made in the front of the scalp or just behind the hairline. Through this incision, the eyebrows are lifted, and muscle and skin responsible for frown lines are removed.

Step 2

Have some skin removed. Chemical peels and dermabrasion are two forms of treatments that remove skin. With chemical peels, an acid solution is applied, layers of skin are then peeled away and your skin becomes smoother. With dermabrasion, the skin gets sanded down with the aid of a high-powered diamond coated wheel or rotating brush. One other option is laser resurfacing where beams of light are shot down on the face to lessen the appearance of the wrinkles.

Step 3

Use a skin cream. There are several creams that can be used to make the skin more supple and help to reduce frown lines. Some of these include DMAE, alpha lipoic acid and vitamin-C ester.

Step 4

Get a botox procedure. Botulinum Toxin Type A, also known as "botox," is a solution injected under the skin in the area where frown lines are. The muscles are relaxed and the skin flattens out, getting rid of the lines.

Step 5

Get a hyaluronic acid injection. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that, like collagen and elastin, helps the structure of the skin. It can be used topically or you can get it injected under the area of your frown lines. After it gets injected, moisture gets drawn to this area, which causes the skin to plump up and diminish the frown lines.
