If you love the soft, smooth feel of commercial aloe vera body soap, create an at-home signature aloe vera glycerin soap blend of your own to use yourself or to share with your friends and loved ones. Once you master the basic aloe vera glycerin soap recipe, customize it by adding your favorite essential oils and dried herbs or flowers.

Basic Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Recipe

Step 1

Cut 2 cups of glycerin soap base into 1-inch squares.

Step 2

Place the glycerin soap squares into the top of a double boiler, and cover the top of the double boiler with a glass lid. If you do not have a double boiler, melt the soap in a large glass bowl in the microwave, three to five minutes at a time, until all of the squares have dissolved.

Step 3

Melt the squares over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the soap completely liquefies.

Step 4

Remove the soap from heat and allow to cool for three to five minutes.

Step 5

Add 1/4 cup fresh or packaged Aloe vera gel to the soap and mix thoroughly.

Step 6

Add 5 to 8 drops of green food or soap coloring, if desired, and stir thoroughly.

Step 7

Pour the liquid glycerin soap into the soap molds.

Step 8

Use a spray bottle to mist isopropyl, or rubbing alcohol, over the liquid soap until all of the bubbles disappear.

Step 9

Let the liquid soap cool on your kitchen counter or table for five to 10 minutes to allow the mixture to come down to room temperature.

Step 10

Place the soap mold into the freezer for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the soap in the mold feels hard to the touch.

Step 11

Remove the soap mold from the freezer.

Step 12

Fill up one side of your kitchen sink with about 2 inches of hot water.

Step 13

Place the soap mold into the hot water for 10 to 15 minutes. The heat of the water will help the soap release from the mold.

Step 14

Turn the soap mold over onto the top of a clean oven rack.

Step 15

Push down slowly yet firmly on the back of the soap mold until the mold releases the soap onto the oven rack.

Step 16

Allow soap to dry on oven rack for two to three hours.

Step 17

Place the Aloe vera glycerin soap in cellophane bags or in an airtight glass or plastic container until use.
