Thick, luxurious, beautiful and enchanting are all words you can use to describe naturally curly hair. Unfortunately, words such as unruly, dry and frizzy are more common descriptions. The difference between beautiful curl and dry frizz is not a genetic one. Regardless of what you've inherited, you can turn natural frizz into a luxurious and shiny mane. All it takes is regular trims every six to eight weeks to remove split ends, a few products and a simple hair-care routine.

Step 1

Shampoo hair with anti-frizz shampoo. Work a liberal amount of anti-frizz conditioner into the hair, and detangle the hair using your fingers. Wait three minutes before rinsing with warm, not hot, water.

Step 2

Towel dry the hair. Remove tangles with a pick or wide-toothed comb. Pour a quarter-sized amount of styling glaze into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together to distribute the product, and work the product through your hair.

Step 3

Dry the hair with a blow dryer complete with an anti-frizz nozzle attachment, or diffuser, on the lowest temperature setting. Direct the flow of air from the roots of the hair towards the ends without disturbing the hair with your hands or fingers.

Step 4

Dry until hair is only slightly damp. Pour a dime-sized amount of silk serum into the palm of your hands. Distribute product over the palms of both hands, and work it into the hair. Finish with a light finishing spray.

Step 5

Apply silk serum throughout the day as frizz reappears.

Tips and Warnings

  • Carry silk serum with you at all times. Touch up curls by working a small amount of the serum through your hair as often as necessary. Weekly deep-conditioning treatments restore moisture and shine to dry hair. Perform a weekly treatment or hair masque to keep hair well hydrated. Shampooing strips hair of oils that aid in controlling frizz. Since naturally curly hair is often dryer than other hair textures, it should be shampooed less often to avoid over drying. Shampoo every other day, every third day or whenever your hair really needs it.
