Large breasts are considered a hallmark of beauty to many in the Western world. Cosmetic surgery is the only completely reliable method for permanently enlarging breast tissue, but several natural techniques may offer breast enhancement without the cost, commitment or possible health risks associated with surgical techniques. If you're interested in using natural methods for breast enlargement, consult your health care provider about the potential benefits and risks. Herbal supplements can cause unanticipated side effects and drug interactions. Do not use any supplement without a health care provider's supervision.
Weight Gain
Human breasts are mostly made up of fat, so thin women tend to have much smaller breasts than women who are overweight. Although it's not healthy for overweight women to gain weight solely for the purpose of improving breast size, some thin women may benefit from moderate weight gain. Calculate your body mass index, or BMI, using the calculator provided by the National Institutes of Health. If your BMI is below 20, consider eating healthy, high-calorie foods to increase your overall fat ratio and breast size. Some good choices include nuts, cheese, dried fruit and whole grains.
Try Soy-Based Foods
Foods containing minimally processed soy beans may help increase breast size. The NIH regards soy as a potential method for enhancing breasts, but no studies have evaluated its overall efficacy. According to the NIH, soy contains a high concentration of isoflavones, which are plant-based compounds similar to estrogen. These may enlarge the breasts by increasing levels of this reproductive hormone in a woman's body. Soy foods such as tofu and edamame may also help lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar levels.
Try Red Clover
Supplements containing red clover contain isoflavones similar to those found in soy, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. The UMMC acknowledges red clover's extensive use as a complementary treatment for menopausal discomforts and osteoporosis. Although scientists have not studied red clover's exact impact on breast growth, its estrogenic effects may cause a mild increase in the fullness of breast tissue. Despite the plant's overall safety, the UMMC advises women taking blood thinners, hormone replacement therapy or oral contraceptives to avoid this herb.
Try Herbs Containing Anethole
Anethole is a naturally occurring plant compound similar in structure to the reproductive hormone estrogen. According to a report published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, anethole and its chemical relatives are found in anise, star-anise and fennel and may account for the traditional medicinal uses attributed to these herbs. The NIH says women taking licorice, an excellent source of anethole, frequently experience an increase in levels of prolactin and estrogen. These two hormones are associated with lactation and breast development. Ask your health care provider before using any herb containing anethole, It may trigger serious side effects in people with medical conditions.
